Desert Knowledge Australia’s Linked Business network Programme is building linkages within four sectors at three levels.
Client: Desert Knowledge Australia, Alice Springs

Desert Knowledge Australia’s Linked Business network Programme is building linkages within four sectors at three levels. Firstly, linkages within five remote desert communities, secondly between these remote communities, and thirdly internationally. Alice Springs., Broken Hill, Kalgoorlie, Mount Isa and Upper Spencer Gulf are participating in this pilot that covers mining services clusters, tourism, bush foods and sustainable buildings.

Ifor Ffowcs-Williams and Mike Burke trained the local facilitators, and supported them with a series of local presentations, workshops, and cross-desert seminars, and chaired cross-desert video conferences. This project started in 2004, and is now being scaled up.
