Client: IFC/SEDF, a World Bank agency Cluster Navigators were part of a team established by Saican, Canada (hot link to this partner) to evaluate the merits and practicalities of introducing a cluster based approach to address the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s knitwear sector. The project was s Sponsored by IFC/South Asia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) in conjunction with the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association. The project followed the demise of the Multi-Fibre Agreement in 2005. An assessment was prepared of the sector’s industry competitiveness, identifying the priorities for development. A series of initiatives were proposed to upgrade competitiveness through building collaborative engagement at the cluster level. A framework for an intervention by SEDF to promote cluster competitiveness was developed. SEDF are now developing this initiative further. |
